About Me

Why it all started.

The idea for The Purple Cupcake began when my daughter was 2 and was helping me bake Christmas cookies. While preparing them she seemed to get a little red when grinding the pecans. Later when she ate a cookie, she was immediately covered in hives. This was our first introduction to the world of food allergies and it has been a long and rocky road!

Months later when she wanted a pirate cake for her 3rd birthday I could not find a bakery that would say their cakes were nut free. A plain vanilla cake might contain nuts made no sense to me. That’s when I decided, after never making a specialty cake, I would just make it myself. Here is the first cake I every made! It’s pretty bad but she loved it. I’ve come a long way!

Interest Leads to Improvement.

Over the years and adding more food allergies to our list, I began researching and baking recipe after recipe. I would send them into work with my husband for taste tests. After years of baking, I finalized the most loved and delicious recipes. These are the ones I bake from scratch for all my cakes and cookies for The Purple Cupcake. Each one is made by me and only me. I know what is in each product and dessert I create. Whether it be my homemade silky Swiss meringue buttercream, the chocolate mousse filling, or any of my other offerings, you can be sure that it is made with quality ingredients and care. Each cake is designed and hand decorated with precise detail. The Purple Cupcake is where art and dessert connect!

Although most cakes I create do not specifically cater to allergies, I can accommodate many. I do not bake with peanut or tree nuts. I offer eggless, dairy free, gluten free, and vegan options. If you have an allergy, please ask about your options. Having a food allergy is extremely difficult to live with and makes gatherings and parties very stressful. This is the reason why I started The Purple Cupcake. Any kid or adult that has a food allergy should be able to have a beautiful and delicious cake without having to worry about their allergy!

I’d like a cake. What should I do first?

Anwser: When contacting me for your party, you should have a couple of pieces of information. I usually ask these questions initially.

  • 1. Do you have a general idea of how many servings you will need the cake to have?
  • 2. What and when is the event? (Birthday, anniversary, bridal shower)
  • 3. What are the allergies or dietary restrictions, if any?

With this information I can make sure I have availably on the date and be able to give a general price for your cake based on a design that I can create for you.

How do I come up with a design?

Anwser: Leave that up to me! Once I have an understanding of the party size, theme, and color scheme I can design a cake that is tailored to your event.

Do you deliver?

Anwser: Yes! Delivery is free to Allentown, Upper Freehold and Cream Ridge. All others will have a fee based on mileage and availability. I’d be happy to price that for you.

What payments do you accept?

Anwser: I take cash or checks for final balances. All deposits can be made through cash, check, or electronic payment methods ( CashApp, etc.). All deposits are refundable up to 10 days before the event.

Are you allergy friendly?

Anwser: Yes! I do not bake with peanut, tree nuts or nut butters. I offer vegan, dairy free, egg free, gluten free, and will work with other allergies if needed. ALL ALLERGIES MUST BE STATED WHEN PLACING AN ORDER no matter what food it is. I have seen sprinkles that say contain fish!

I'm planning on picking up my order - Any tips?

Anwser: You’ll need to clear a smooth, flat surface in your vehicle for your cake. This generally means the floor, trunk or back of your SUV (I can provide you with exact box dimensions, upon request). I do not recommend transporting your cake on your seats, as they are actually quite angled. Your cake, or any product containing buttercream, cannot be left in your vehicle during warm weather. Crank your AC as cold as possible and proceed directly to your destination. During the winter months, avoid placing your cake near your heater vents. My buttercream contains pure butter, which will soften and melt under warm conditions. Drive with care - slow and steady. Avoid abrupt stops. Refrigerate your cake and cupcakes as soon as possible. Do not refrigerate cookies. I am not responsible for any damage to your order once it has left.
